The first three days

Day 1 (25.2.2012)

I and the others from the course, we were supposed to meet in Viking Lines terminal in Katajanokka. I was the first one got who there and, like always, I was panicking and being paranoid if I was in the right place with right date and time. (Damn you AD/HD, I blame you for that.) That might have been so because I was almost an hour earlier than we were supposed to meet :D So I just sat there and listened to some music. After a while people started to show up. We all gathered together, greeted each other, checked that everyone was there and got the cruiser and train tickets.

When we stood up and started to walk towards the ship, I felt like ‘Wow, this is really it! I’m really going. Oh mi gosh!!!’ Once we got ship, we were in the fourth floor and our cabins were in the second floor. There was a huge line for the elevators so someone suggested that we’d walk. Even though it was just two floors that we had to go down, it sure was some exercise for my arm muscles to carry my heavy luggage.

After I got the cabin, I left my stuff there, checked the mirror if I looked okay. Then I went walk around in the ship, mostly in decks 6 & 7. I was really curious about the people in there; who’s cute, who’s hot & who’s not xD

When the Tax Free shop was opened, I was like Whaa~ so excited but when I actually got there, I noticed that all stuff there was same as when I was in the same cruiser in October. So I walked around and around. I was graving for something sweet very much but I was annoyed that almost all candies were packed in HUGE packages and I had intention to buy something big and expensive. So what I really bought was a little chocolate box. What was funny was that I almost bought chocolate from Belgium. Well the chocolate that I really bought was from Holland.

After that I just to my cabin and there I was just simply chatting with my roommates. Few hours later most of our group were going to eat something. For me, as an underage, it was cheapest to eat from buffet table but for the others it would have been way too expensive so I had to go alone ;(

At first I was really comfortable about going alone, I was listening music for time to past and just simply smiling all the time. (I wouldn’t do that normally :D) I enjoyed my time there eating good food until a Swedish couple came to table next to me. They greeted me and to polite, I greeted them back. After a while, a group of three guys came to sit table opposite to me who were about 25 or something like that. One of the guys, who was directly opposite to me, kept looking or more like staring at me all the time. How creepy, I know. I just turned my music louder and on focused on my food trying to ignore him.

When I started to feel uncomfortable was when I heard the man of the Swedish couple saying something about me. He kept saying to his wife ‘that girl’s all alone, talk to her’ ‘say something to her’. Though my Swedish isn’t so good, I could understand that much. Then I was like, hey even if I’m all by myself, I do NOT want to have a forced conversation. I just pretended that I didn’t hear anything and kept eating.

After I had eaten the main food and was starting the dessert, the Swedish guy smiled at me and asked if my food was good. And not much after that, the guy who had been staring at me, smiled at me creepily and winked to me. I was like ‘Oh my f*cking gosh’, am I getting raped or something?!?! I thought I had enough so I just left the place really quickly. I tried to find the others from our group without no success. Then I just decided to stay where I was and check if I had any new messages.

There were some guys from Holland sitting in stairs near to where I was. I knew that they were from Holland because they had randomly introduced themselves in elevator few hours before. Quite random, huh? :D I don’t know why and how but we began to talk and ended up to have a long conversation eventually. They told that they had been in Finland for snowboarding and they had been interviewed for Finnish TV program that’s going air soon on YLE.

One of them was actually really cute. If you know me well, you know my weakness to cute guys. They were all really funny and I enjoyed my time with them. I think that they were about few years than me. So I stayed there talking to them for who knows how long. But I also knew that I had to go see the others so they wouldn’t worry about me. For my surprise, the whole group was packed in one cabin (which is usually in my opinion roomy for four persons and there was about 20 of them.)

They were drinking some sparkly wine and I had intention neither to drink nor to watch people drink so I didn’t stay there and went back up. The guys were still in the same place so I just continued to talk to them. And that’s pretty much how I spent the night, talking to one of the guys (the cute one) almost of everything. About something after midnight, I went to sleep.

Day 2 26.2.2012

When I woke up, I felt like I had been drinking all night even I hadn’t drank anything near to alcohol. It was still very early so I just turned around and continued sleeping. When I woke up again, I was like ‘Oh mi gosh,  I need to go shower, will I have enough time, oh no oh no’ Everyone else were still sleeping and I was afraid that they’d wake up if I’d move even a bit. After I eventually showered, I really needed to hurry to the breakfast. I think it’s kinda funny that there’s always the same breakfast in the cruiser.

When I was walking back to pack my stuff, I noticed that the guys I met yesterday, had their cabin door open so I decided to go to say hi. I also brought my laptop with me so I could add them as friend in Facebook. Just unfortunately they didn’t have enough time that I could have added them all because they had to go to their car.  So I just went pack my stuff and soon we arrived to Stockholm.

We had to walk all the way from the terminal to the train station. It was pretty exhausting. Once we got there had almost an hour to wait for train. So I got bored and started to write this blog; to my notebook (I have a weird thing to write everything first to paper, then to laptop) The original title to this post says three first days because I’m not sure if I’m able to use internet before Monday. Or who knows if I’ll be able to update even then.

In the train, I was really and bored. I kept writing and also watched some videos with my laptop. After being like four hours in the train, we found out that the train that the train company (VR<3) had booked for us didn’t exist at the time. There was some rebuilding in the tracks in some part of Sweden. Because of this absolutely great situation we weren’t able reach the next train to Köln which was also the days last train to there. I was like, haha great... Just so damn awesome. I’m freaking loving this.

Okay I had to stay thinking positively. At least now I got to sleep in a real bed, not in night train. But still it was annoying. So now we had to change train in Malmö and go to Copenhagen where we would stay for the night in a hostel. ‘I’m not sure if I’ll get used to write down the detail to the Interrail report form’ I thought when we had to change train again. I was so glad that I wasn’t travelling alone; I would’ve been so lost. Though it, would be a great adventure.  Maybe I’ll consider it when I’m few years older.

When we got to the hostel, the whole situation was really messy. Everyone was tired and hungry and the check in took like forever. We two rooms, 12 persons each and when we were settling down and leaving our luggages, it was really roomy. The hostels name was Hotel Jorgensen and it was... decent. Because we were all very hungry, we went to walk around in the city/town(?) trying to find a place to eat. Almost all restaurants and cafes were closing so it took us long to find any place.

After a while, we found a place that was open still after 22.00 and got in there. There was only one waiter who looked confused that there was so many of us (about 8) and that we spoke English, not Danish. He gave us the menus which looked very fancy, actually the whole place did. Even though the menu was in English, I couldn’t understand the most of it. After a quick look at it, I noticed that there was anything for me. I’m not used to eat so fine food and all the dished were really expensive. So call me a bad green person or anything but I decided to that I’d get take away from McDonald’s which was near to our hostel. I was so that I couldn’t care less what the others thought. So sorry.

So when we got back to the hostel I ate my meal, some were drinking wine, most of us were using laptops (go green facebook parties) and some had even fallen asleep already. And then one by one, people started to sleep. And surprise surprise, I was last one awake, just tossing and turning around in the bed.

... To be continued.

Oh by the way, I’m not able to add any pics before I go home.
